East Lansing Roller Derby opened their 2019 season with a bout that pitted the Mitten Mavens against the Border City Brawlers from Windsor, Ontario, Canada.  The house was packed for the match, which opened with the national anthem sung by Zach Britten. On the track, both teams featured tight pack dynamics and fleet-footed jammers.

Following the main event, several ELRD skaters and competitors from a variety of other leagues joined forces on the track for a well-attended mixed scrimmage.

We give our thanks to everyone who donated money or feminine hygiene supplies to March’s charity partner, Helping Women Period.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who made last night possible; officials, EMTs (Jake & Stacey), announcers (Jack & Mynerva), the amazing Zach for his vocal chords, photographers (David Lewis, David Randall, & D.Babao), volunteers, our skaters in the scrimmage, the FANS. We had a packed crowd for an exciting game! Special thank you to the ladies of Windsor Roller Derby. You all are such a class act. We have such a genuine love for your team and always have such a fantastic time playing against you all.
