Lansing to Host the 2026 WFTDA Northeast Regional Playoffs at the Lansing Center
Lansing Roller Derby is proud to announce that Lansing, Michigan has officially been selected as the host city for the 2026 WFTDA Northeast Regional Playoffs, taking place May 29–31, 2026 at the Lansing Center in downtown Lansing.
Hosted by Lansing Roller Derby in partnership with the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), this three-day postseason tournament will bring high-level competitive roller derby to mid-Michigan, featuring teams from across North America competing for advancement within the WFTDA postseason structure.
This event represents a major moment not only for Lansing Roller Derby, but for the Greater Lansing community as a whole. Athletes, officials, volunteers, families, and fans from across the country are expected to travel to Lansing for the tournament weekend, bringing national attention and significant tourism activity to the area.
The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association serves as the international governing body for the sport of flat track roller derby, representing hundreds of member leagues worldwide. Modern roller derby is a fast-paced, full-contact sport known for its athleticism, strategy, community culture, and commitment to inclusivity.
For Lansing Roller Derby, hosting the WFTDA Northeast Regional Playoffs is about more than competition. It is an opportunity to showcase Lansing as a destination city for women-led athletics, grassroots sports, and large-scale community events.
Roller derby continues to grow nationally and internationally, and hosting a WFTDA postseason tournament places Lansing among a select group of cities trusted to support championship-level competition.

Media Opportunities
Media interview opportunities are available in advance of the event. Members of Lansing Roller Derby, tournament leadership, and participating athletes may be available for interviews during Lansing Roller Derby practice on Wednesday, May 27 from 8:00–10:00 PM, as well as during tournament setup at the Lansing Center on Thursday, May 28 from 8:00 AM–8:00 PM.
Additional interviews and media access may also be coordinated throughout tournament weekend upon request.
Press passes are available for media outlets interested in covering a specific day or the full tournament weekend. Lansing Roller Derby is happy to coordinate credentials, venue access, interviews, photos, and additional media needs in advance.
